The construction phase

Also in the new building phase of the suspension railway not all citizens were to build thus a big, green Stahlungetüm about the Wupper. The suspension railway was extremely advanced at this time and moulder. At the time steel had become as a building material just entedeckt. A test distance of the suspension railway was also shown on the Paris world exhibit. Here there was another famous building of the "steel time", the Paris Eifeltum.


With the planning and the construction of the suspension railway the company MACHINES AGNüRNBERG was instructed. The company developed according to the drafts of long
the constructions and made this in your work. Then they became
in Wuppertal premounted and put up. Because, however, the construction of the distance should be done by Vohwinkel to Barmen in two years, the company machine AG Nuremberg consulted three further(farther) big companies, the company Union from Dortmund, the company Harkfort from Duisburg and the company Good hope hut from Sterkrade. Each of these companies should build at the same time a quarter of the distance.


On the 31st October, 1896 the Continentale society received for electric ones
Enterprises in Nuremberg the approval to the construction of the suspension railway after him
System Eugene Langen.
It was built always at four places at the same time, every company built a piece of the road. Every company had another mounting help: one a scaffolding built in the middle of the Wupper and leaned against the scaffolding the props and mounted them. Another company had a mounting help which  was right about the scaffolding, forwards jutted out and with the help of cranes the props mounted.
