The solution attempts in
other towns
Also other cities had similar traffic problems and looked
for solutions. In London the first subway was built in 1863. In
New York the first high road was opened in 1880, she went under steam. Only in 1888 an ex-naval officer
made
the electric impulse suited for everyday life. Franklin
Sprague built the first streetcar in Richmond / Virginia (USA).
However, in Wuppertal there was the problem that the ground of rock grow
through was. And by the Wupper the ground-water level was also very high. Therefore,
the construction of a subway was impossible. On the small narrow street was anyhow no
more more place, was thus also the construction of a streetcar not the solution in request.
Thus only the place about the Wupper and some people remained
thoughts came along about how one could build a means of transportation about the river.
The first help to the traffic problem was the railroad line built in
1841 of Wuppertal Steinbeck to Dusseldorf. This railroad line was the first distance
in the west of Germany. Only six years to before the first German
railroad line was opened from Nuremberg to Fürth. Thus the street was
relieved to Dusseldorf. However, how did one get the goods to the railway station after Steinbeck?
One needed one more fish oil sport middle within the town.
Eugene Langen had also dealt with this problem and also already had
at hand suggestions.
